Primus

It all began in a small smithy in central Stockholm in 1892, when F.W. Lindqvist and J.V. Svenson created the world's first soot-free kerosene stove! Because it was the first, they decided to call it Primus (which means first). The name became synonymous with reliable outdoor stoves. These stoves became the first choice for people setting off on first ascents as well as demanding expeditions. One milestone was when Roald Amundsen became the first person to reach the South Pole in 1911. Another milestone was with Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary on Mount Everest in 1953, when they were the first to reach the summit.

The outdoor community just kept growing, and in 1994 they opened the doors to the factory in Tartu, Estonia, to meet demand. The goal is to offer standard products of the highest quality that are ‘made in Europe’. This remains the key to production. To this day, Primus remains one of the few outdoor stove manufacturers that still produces its stoves in Europe. Every step, from the initial design to production, is done in-house at the company's R&D facility, as well as out in the field. Every product undergoes extensive testing and intensive quality control, which means, among other things, that every outdoor stove is test-fired before leaving the factory. They do this to ensure that every outdoor stove can truly become a reliable, lifelong companion.

The products are by no means aimed only at those climbing the highest mountains, venturing into hostile polar regions, or exploring the most remote places you can imagine. They believe in both big and small adventures. Thus, their innovations also consist of outdoor stoves for everyday use, lanterns, and accessories. The company wants you to enjoy your time outdoors, no matter where you are or what you are doing!
